Effective date: August 1, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Local Sales Locator collects, uses, shares and protects information when you browse the website, create an account, submit a sale event, subscribe to sale alerts, apply for sponsorship, make a payment or contact us.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information: name, username, email address, password credentials stored by WordPress and account activity.
- Sale-event information: title, description, dates, hours, community, street address, ZIP code, photos, accepted payment methods and any contact email or telephone number you choose to provide.
- Alert information: email address and the locations, sale types, item categories or special events selected for notifications.
- Payment and promotion information: listing or sponsorship amount, payment status, Stripe transaction identifiers, customer email, promotional code and campaign source. Local Sales Locator does not receive or store your complete payment-card number.
- Support and sponsorship information: messages, issue details, business information, website address, logo and contact information submitted through our forms.
Information collected automatically
The website may process device and browser information, IP address, referring page, pages or listings viewed, search activity, saves, direction clicks, shares, campaign visits and similar usage information. Security and rate-limiting features may temporarily process an IP address or store a one-way hash. Listing performance reports use aggregate counts and one-way browser hashes rather than shopper names, email addresses or raw IP addresses.
How We Use Information
We use information to operate and secure the directory; create and manage accounts and listings; review, publish, postpone, expire or remove content; process payments, discounts and refunds; send transactional messages and requested sale alerts; provide saved-sale and route tools; measure listing and advertising performance; respond to support requests; prevent spam, fraud and abuse; comply with law; and improve the beta service.
Public Listing Information
Published sale events are public. Listing titles, descriptions, dates, photos, communities and other submitted details may be visible to anyone and may appear in search engines or shared links. Sellers control the available address-display setting, including exact address, delayed reveal or community-and-ZIP-only display. A public contact method is displayed only when the seller selects one. Do not submit information you do not want made public.
Cookies and Local Browser Storage
Local Sales Locator uses cookies, session storage and local storage for essential functions such as sign-in, security, announcement dismissal, promotional attribution, saved sales and saved routes. Saved-sale and route information may remain in the browser for a limited period. Browser controls can remove this information, but disabling essential storage may prevent parts of the site from working correctly.
Payments and Other Service Providers
Payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe receives transaction and payment-method information under its own Privacy Policy. We may also use hosting, email-delivery, mapping, directions, security and website-service providers that process information only as needed to provide their services. Opening directions may send a public sale address to the selected mapping provider. We may disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a business transfer.
Sale of Personal Information and Advertising
We do not sell personal information. Campaign codes and links help us measure which promotions lead to visits, submissions and payments. Sponsorships are displayed placements and are not based on creating a profile of a shopper across unrelated websites.
Data Retention and Security
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, maintain transaction and business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements and comply with law. Expired or cancelled listings and related transaction records may remain in administrative records. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices
Account holders can update listing information through the Seller Dashboard. Sale-alert emails include a management or unsubscribe method. You may ask to review, correct or delete appropriate personal information by using our Contact Us page. We may retain information when required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, transactions or legitimate business records.
Children’s Privacy
Local Sales Locator is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. Children under 13 should not create accounts or submit personal information. If you believe a child provided personal information, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date above will be revised when material updates are published. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to later use.
